Grand River Collegiate Institute is a public secondary school in Kitchener, Ontario. The school is located at 175 Indian Road, Kitchener, Ontario. It is part of the Waterloo Region District School Board. Grand River's principal is Deborah Tyrrell.
Grand River Collegiate Institute's sports teams are known as the Renegades (or Rens).
As the fifth collegiate in K-W, Grand River Collegiate Institute (GRCI) was built on a 20-acre (81,000 m2) site in the Natchez Road area of Kitchener at the cost of $3,832,000. Grand River was chosen among other names like Parkwood, Sand Hills, and Natchez, as the name for the new school. GRCI officially opened on September 6, 1966, with about 850 students and 55 teachers present. GRCI is located at the eastern end of Kitchener.
Currently there are approximately 1,450 full-time students at Grand River Collegiate Institute. Grand River has about 100 academic staff. Within its existence, Grand River has had 5 principals:

Grand River has athletic groups which include: alpine skiing, archery, badminton, basketball, cross-country, curling, dance, field hockey, football, ice hockey, nordic skiing, rugby, soccer, swimming, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.
They also have several clubs and activities to choose from such as Amnesty International, badminton, chess, dance, debating, DECA, Enviro-thon, hiking, intramurals, Key Club, math league, multicultural, newspaper, OSAID, photography, Rainbow, robotics, stage crew, weight training and work crew.
GRCI has several fundraising events such as "Kenya Dig It" where they raise money to try to dig a well in Kenya.
Grand River Collegiate Institute has a club called the ACCT club. ACCT club stands for Acknowledge, Challenge, Change and Teach. Every October Grand River hold an "ACCT OUT" day where selected students can reach out through the strength of their friends and fellow students at a one day workshop.
